MIRROR (UNINTENTIONAL ROBIN WILLIAMS TRIBUTE) By Tony Doe

"This is my unintentional Robin Williams tribute. Unintentional because I wrote it in 2011, a few days after the original version by Lil Wayne featuring Bruno Mars, was released as a single. I wanted to do a mixtape with some of the hottest tracks out at the time to test my lyrical proficiency. It didn’t work out but I kept the lyrics… until now.

It might seem awkward to acknowledge that I have had bouts with depression and can probably relate to what Robin went through, hiding behind the veil of his incredibly immense comic talent. Ours is a society less tolerant to psycho-emotional (I’m pretty sure I just made this up) needs and so we the ‘weaklings’ are forced to hide our problems or find alternative means to express them.

Some become bullies, some suicidal and others sex addicts even.

I hope this song encourages someone “on the ropes”. There’re certain things that an unexplainable Spiritual Experience can accomplish, one of which is my realization that I am as I should be and my purpose is predestined by a God who’s thoughts of me are only of GOOD... it’s still a battle but the glass is always half full."

Track contains excerpts from Billy Crystal’s Emmy Awards tribute to Robin Williams.
