FAMILY OF UNILAG STUDENT ELECTROCUTED OUTSIDE HER HOSTEL YET TO RECEIVE THE N45M COMPENSATION FROM PHCN

 oluchi
The family of Oluchi Anekwe, a 300-level student of Accounting in the University of Lagos, who was electrocuted by a live wire on the school premises, has been paid N45m as compensation.

In September 2015 Oluchi, a first class student of UNILAG, was electrocuted at about 7pm, while returning from an evening mass with her younger sister.A source who spoke to , Punch Metro said that the money was paid after the Eko Electricity Distribution Company reached a non-disclosure agreement with the victim’s family.

Oluchi had reportedly entered the Eni Njoku Hall to buy an item and was walking out of the hostel when a high-tension wire fell on her. The remains of the Igbo-Etiti, Enugu State indigene, were buried shortly after. The Federal Government also set up a panel to investigate the death.
A Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, reportedly took up the case and wrote EKEDC, asking that the firm compensate the family or risk litigation.
After series of meetings, the power firm buckled and settled with the family.
A source said:
“They agreed and paid N45m in a non-disclosure agreement. This means the agreement is not to be disclosed to the public. It is supposed to be a private arrangement between the company and the girl’s family.
“The reasoning is that if it is publicized, it could encourage people who have similar grievances to insist on monetary settlements. That might not augur well for the company. The victim’s younger sister has also been flown abroad for treatment for the injuries she sustained in the incident.”
When contacted, Oluchi’s father, Chief Basil Anekwe, refused to confirm if any money was paid to his family, saying instead that the victim’s younger sister was abandoned in an American hospital.
He said, “Which money are you talking about? Where did you get the information? Well, I don’t have an idea of what you are talking about; I am in Enugu right now.”
Probed further if the family had received any payment, he said: “Do not ask me because I do not know you. You cannot hear anything from me. Go and confirm from the person that gave you the information. Write that I said I have nothing to say about it. I stopped the negotiation process because my daughter was abandoned in an American hospital and I had to go and get her.”

THE TEARS OF A BABY-MAMA EPISODE 3

Well, back to James visit. It came and gone but with a lot happening. I was so interested with details of his visit. All she told me was that yea,he's nice..they just sat watching movies together. He likes so much "30Days in Atlanta" by AY. In my heart I was waiting for the main segment (Who cares about Buhari's visit to China as long as he didn't mistakenly dance "shooki" there. Because 'shooki' na dancè for nàija but na fight for China). All I wanted hearing was 'we did this or that', but she said noting happened just a hug. Just a hug?

Mine oh mine,if I can only get a hug from Funke,I will be made whole like the woman with the 'issue of blood. Mere looking at her full package, with beautiful size 38 of well ripe water melon..blood of zechariah. She's the type of girl you marry and you don't need any pain killer to ease you of one. All you need is for her to rest on you and like magic, pain will disappear.

Weeks past and her friendship with James blossomed until the day she cried to my house. She felt so uncomfortable. 'What happened?", I asked her but she kept on crying. After a while she said she can't explain how it happened. 'What happened',I asked her. 'Is it your job?". 'Stop scaring me' I said with fear "Bonnyhills,I am pregnant' She said. All I remembered then was that I burst out in tears but with part of PSquare song "Omoge mi",...that has to do with the issue... "No [x2]YeahGirl why yeah yeahOmoge miAti padi miHe eh [x2]Oremi ehGirl why yeah yeah(Bridge 1)I told her not to cryThat everything will be alrightBut now I wonder whyIt has to be this guyThis na my only best friend[Chorus:]If na you, tell me wetin you go do your girl friendOmoge ti mo feranTi emi feran, ti emi fe riOmoge mi ati padi miWon ti semi nkan ti o daWetin you go do your best friend? This na padi mi, oremi eyi e ehGirl why yeah yeah" 'How manage Funke?' I asked. 'Bonny,I'm so confused'...she said. I just can't explàin it. She cried on and sobbed. I know you will hate me and drive me away from you. But please just believe me Bonny,I didn't do it". At that point i pulled her close to my chest, still in tears WestLife song titled "Swear it Again", flashed through my mind...and i sang on... "I wanna knowWho ever told you I was letting goOf the only joy that I have ever knownGirl, they were lying.Just look around,And all of the people that we used to knowHave just given up, they wanna let it goBut we're still trying.(chorus)I'm never gonna say goodbyeCos I never wanna see you cryI swore to you my love would remainAnd I swear it all over again and II'm never gonna treat you badCos I never wanna see you sadI swore to share your joy and your painAnd I swear it all over again

THE TEARS OF A BABY MAMÀ EPISODE 2
One day,James called to say he was going to pay her a visit. Wow,she was so excited.Having a friend like James pay her a visit after almost 2 months of daily constant communication means more to her than naija fuel scarcity. She told him she would make his first visit the best ever. Now this is a girl who desired to be in love with this guy but this guy is yet to say a word in that direction.
Each time she raised up James issue while with me, she complained why he just won't defined their friendship. I get bitter inside of me because e come dey be like say me sef no arrange my side. Because of her I began to sing more Yoruba songs since alot of Yoruba girls likes guys with such swag. So each time i see her,Adekunle Gold song titled "SADE",never left my mouth. I sang... "Oh oh oh… Uhhmm Sade… Oya now Otipe ti’n mo ti’n ba re soro Otipe ti’n mo ti’n toast e Sade…. Ojo n’lo Ose to lo ni o pa thirty Sade I dey beg say make you marry You tell me say you no ready o O de jo Omoge dakun gbo temi Jowo ma je kin lo commit o I love you die I need you die Baby mi jowo Please come be my wife" Whenever I start singing she turns to me and said Bonnyhils, what I feel for you is the love of Christ. Nothing more. I just won't stop singing. The more she talks about the love of Christ the more I get more inspirations to sing on... "Je’n gbe lole Mummy mi reti omo Marry me o baby Baba mi reti omo You know I love you Omoge wa femi" Funke, often feel the vibes each time my madness for singing shows up. She wondered why I chose the art of comedy & emcee and not singing especially when I sing with such passion. I know exactly the part that moves her most in SADE... "I say I need you girl You say you need sometime But time hin no dey girl Answer me on time I dey beg you say make you follow me You tell say you no love me O de jo Omoge dakun se temi Jowo ma je kin lo commit o I love you die I need you die Baby mi jowo Jowo Please come be my wife" And when I begin this lines!she go run leave me. (hahaha)

THE TEARS OF A BABY-MAMA EPISODE 1.

At first when Funke told me she was bored and needed something to keep her busy,I was surprised because this was same girl back at school that would go often. But all of a sudden after our university days,it seems like she changed. Yes of course she did when she met with Paul. Whom she later introduced to me.

Paul was the head usher in their church. Very vibrant, committed and always on ground. A lot of people liked him because of his polite nature of addressing issues especially when it has to do with members sitting arrangement. Funke,a girl that only began the church just less than two month decided to join a service unit and the ushering department was one that she liked since she told me back then about her love for purple colour being one of the uniforms they use more often.

At first when James called the first time, Funke wasn't expecting his call as she never knew who was calling. She only found out that it was him during their conversation. He had gotten her number from their unit register. A normal conversation. He asked her about her faith, work, family, etc...and dropped after a while. But that was the beginning of series of calls.

Funke was so happy that at least a very responsible guy in church would care so much about her well being. She just couldn't keep the gist back from me her padi. Every opportunity she has,she must make a statement about her James. From calls,James invited her one day for a friend's birthday. She jumped at the opportunity and was elated to be part of an elite group of bankers.

The party went well and she couldn't just wait to see me and gist about all that happened there. This her excitement no be here o. It got so good abi na worst that its either she's on fone with James or she's sending SMS or chatting with him. Omoh,me come dey wan jealous her sef because the girl I dey date don  misbehave follow another guy and I need to be in something serious.
